「須磨の浦」と男女や子供が描かれています。枕草子や万葉集などで数多く読まれている美しい場所です。源氏物語などの物語の中にも書かれています。摂津名所図会には、この須磨の浦を読んだ和歌などが多数掲載されています。また、この絵には男性とその子供、左には恐らく魚を捕っていた女性が描かれています。子供は刀を差しているようですし、身分の高い服装に見えます。対して女性は腰蓑のようなものを巻いているように見え、現地の村人かもしれません。また、奥に月も見えますし、黄昏時なのかもしれません。
