It is said that the custom which writes a song to the leaf of roussonetia papyrifera was on Tanabata in Japan.

「梶の葉」「野菊」「桃の花」「雪の下」が描かれています。「梶の葉」は「カジノキ」の葉っぱで、クワ科の落葉植物です。日本では七夕に梶の葉に歌を書く習慣があったそうです。「野菊」はそのままキク科の花ですが、鳥も描かれています。「桃の花」はバラ科の落葉植物で、その実は甘くおいしい桃です。「雪の下」はユキノシタ科の植物で、天ぷらやおひたしなど食用にも用いられます。
